I usually prefer Miniatronics bulbs, 1.5 volt or 12 volt. Most of the time, the 1.5 volt bulbs as 12 volt bulbs in plastic locos can melt the plastic shell enough to mess up the shell.
Switching a lot to LED's.

I want to use them for indicator lights on a control panel. I have Lionel trains so it's AC power at about 16v.

OK, here are some surplus shops I have bought from. Realize there are many types of small bulbs and may not be labeled grain of wheat. Ebay may be a good source. I buy quite a lot via ebay but I have learned how shop and compare.
