Hi all

My boyfriend just emailed from work, he said last night on the news they mentioned a derailment at West Deerfield by the rt91 bridge. Has anyone else heard about this? I couldn't find info online...

Ho hum. When talking about this outfit, the word railroad should be put between quotation marks.

The locomotives probably weren't within view of the TV cameras... or they might have been gone by the time the TV crew got there.

Might Pan Am choose to replace the track after clearing the mess? :-(

They will prob just tear up the track and abandon.

They will put pre made panel sections in, put a 10 mph rest on it. And it will be like that for years....

In Today's Greenfield Reporter:

Deerfield billing railroad for derailment
By PATRICK O’CONNOR, Recorder Staff

DEERFIELD — Although the town wants Pan Am Railways to pay for the response to a recent train derailment, it may have a tough time retrieving the money, considering the company’s poor track record of paying taxes.

Town Administrator Bernard Kubiak sent a letter to Pan Am Railways, formerly known as Guilford Rail Systems, asking for $6,915, which is the amount the town’s fire departments, police department and ambulance service spent to respond to the derailment in West Deerfield on Sept. 12.
