Was looking down the coast line to see what sidings were left and saw that the siding builders general in little silver is still place as of 2018. Any idea why the siding would still be connected to the main if they haven't seen a car many many years?

Some sidings have remained connected 50-60 years after they were last used. Sometimes they are saved for infrequent used by track machines..sometimes the RR mgmt doesnt know they are there....sometimes the RR just doesnt want to spend the money to take the sidings out, sometimes the owner of the siding (if not the RR) wants to keep it connected for possible future use. Once a siding is pulled, the RR may charge as much as 300K to reconnect it....

The Builders' Siding is occasionally used for MoW crews and equipment. Otherwise it isn't used normally.

The siding in Belmar between 13th and 16th Aves. sees occasional storage for MOW machines. The two-track yard in Bradley Beach (actually on the Neptune side) is used for MOW machine storage, and sometimes NJT gondolas used for tie replacement work.

SA38 Eastbound at Cross Street at 10:12 PM. For whatever reason they have an engine at both ends of the train. 5634 is in the front and 4408 is pulling from the other end.

Unless they snuck by, I didn't hear the train return last night.

I'm thinking its still meets the requirement of two engines with x amount of cars, a NJT rule. Makes the run around not required. Allows for the two deliveries facing the opposite direction on return trip. Which could be done on way down. Brilliant thinking!
Just me thinking...

You may see a slowdown in railcar numbers this week after the big derailment in Bound Brook yesterday morning

I don't see how a temporary track blockage in Bound Brook would effect traffic coming out of Browns Yard a week later.
