CR on the Southern Secondary

Scratch that, the switches in Red Bank are set for the Southern so it looks like they are on the way.

This is a great map showing what was once in those woods.

SA31 should be at Bank right around now, 4:45pm.

Love the map. You can still almost trace the old marl spur (top) during the winter when the trees and shrubs have thinned out. Farther north was a wye and another spur to the east to a sand quarry. A few years back you could trace that ROW but the regrowth has all but obliterated it. A friend was a surveyor by trade and he showed us many of these forgotten old rail spurs.

Gary, the spur from the wye went all the way to what is now NJ Sand and Gravel on Rt-34. There was another spur to a marl pit in what is now Howell Park Golf Course. The spur ran along the Southwest edge of the golf course to the lake (pit).

I’ve been told we can expect PR-19 to take the train out of Lakewood tomorrow around noon but it’s not certain yet.

Quick heads up. PR-19 will be bringing the train back today.

They will arrive at Woodhaven around 11 AM and should leave by 11:30.

I also believe that we can expect another fast run.

PR-19 will be leaving Lakewood shortly.
