In August of 1953, Dad brought me on an RDC from Boston to Troy as he (born 1897) had never gone through the Hoosac Tunnel. We had a view out the rear window. Apparently (from a 1946 timetable) it was a 45-minute run of 27 miles from Hoosick Falls to Troy. Did the railroad pass north or south of Tomhannock Reservoir? The topic came up because friends went bird-watching there yesterday. In 1953, we then took a steam local from Troy to Albany and returned to Boston on the B&A. A great treat!
