The energy company probably wanted the plant closed and demoed within a predetermined timeline. From the look of it they wasted no time in it's demo. Probably didn't have time to shop around for a buyer of rail equipment. When a contract comes out to dispose of a facility like this power station, the bidder has the responsibility to destroy it all and clear the site. Per the guys there they cut up some Earth mover machines that they could've used. Contract says demo entire site so that's what they have the responsibility to do. Saw the same thing happen in Perth Amboy. They'd had their machine cut those puppies up and they left the property in dumpsters.

I think there was a flatcar and two 2 bay hoppers on the property prior to demolition? At least going off of satellite views.

Pity the two switchers are gone. Whoever recycled them would've definitely gotten their money's worth. Those engines have alot of solid copper 500 MCM wire! $$$$$

A shame they probably could’ve had a new life somewhere else.
