There's a new talking detector in service at Bates Mill Rd on the AC Line at MP 23.1.
I get a kick out of these:

Integrity: The detector will transmit the status of its integrity twice. If failing the message will state the location of the detector and the words "integrity failure," or if the dragger has malfunctioned it will transmit the message "Stuck Dragger". Example: "NJ Rail Bates Mill Road, MP 23.1, Integrity Failure"

Defects Detected: Immediately upon detection of the first defect, the system will sound a 2 second tone, then state the message, "NJ Rail Bates Mill Road, MP 23.1, You have a defect".

Didn't NJT remove 1 or 2 talking detectors from the line a few years back? Cudos to NJT for giving the dragger a name instead of just a milepost.

The Bates Mill Rd. detector is not new, just back in service. It was taken out about a year and a half ago. Quite frankly after 2 wheels have fallen off trains, the detectors can't come back fast enough. The other AC line detector is at Bremen Ave. in Egg Harbor. That one's been out for quite a while. Probably won't be back anytime soon but after the third wheel falls off, (and it will), look for it to become operational very quickly.
