The news on this pair on the 7:41p to Trenton:
  1. #1355 had its A/C broken but lights still running.
  2. Its partner, 1354, would shut off its lights each time the engineer applied the brakes at a high speed.
Why does the latter happen?

it sounds like the A/C was a fluke thing, that doesn't have anything to do with either car, as they each have their own units.

As for the car that went dark, that the car was "dead" in that it wasn't drawing any traction power, and it was just along for the ride. The pan was up, but was only drawing power for headend power. If im not mistaken, the cars "create" power when the dymanic brakes are applied, and if the pair had no traction power, it owuldn't have any dyaminics.

I have never seen an MU act like that before (the 1354). I can only figure its computer was suffering from some fault that was causing the problem.
