Interesting arial shot of Philly in 1930. Of particular interest is the area of what will be 30th St station. Check out the round house, approach to Broad St Station, ZOO, and in general the abundance of train tracks.

Very interesting - I believe the picture also shows the track that was incorporated into the tunnel that the R1-R2-R3 now use and is referenced in another thread "abandoned tunnel" - Did the North Bound trains have to reverse into Broad Street Station ??

On the NorthWest side of the roundhouse West of 30th St. Station site is part of the cut for the curve that Northbound trains could use to head into Broad St. Station. This is a few feet South of the present curve that commuter trains to Airport, Wilmington, and Media use.
