Anybody know what engine this is? The description says early US steam locomotive.
If it is American, it probably was built in the UK and exported to America.

Parts look more British than U.S. (see in particular the handles on the smokebox front). Cab is unlike anything I have ever seen on either U.S. or British steam: maybe artistic license, to show back of boiler, but if it is actually an accurate portrayal of some specific locomotive it would be, at a guess, a British product designed for export to somewhere tropical.

It looks like one of the drawings for some of the most current books for youth. Over the years, I've noticed some of those take a bit of artistic license.

You must remember, we are 40 years beyond steam in daily service in western Europe, and 50 years in the US.
