There's a gap in the third rail, the train just picks it up again on the other side. Only a problem if train is a single pair of MU's going very very slowly through the gap.

I have to wonder if there are any trains with only a single pair of cars anywhere in third rail territory on Metro-North. I have my doubts.

Certainly not in revenue service. Even the New Canaan Dink is usually 5 cars these days.

Noel I may have been last Foreman M of e to send a single pair of M-3a's on a train that required 6 cars in 1987.
after being questioned by chief my answer was do you think I am the Budd company and I can shit cars ??
nothing else was available.
