In 2022, VRE awarded a contract to Americaneagle.com to redesign it's website and upgrade it's mobile phone app. It will be ready to roll out soon (probably in May)
The new VRE mobile app will be more just a ticketing app. The new features are
- New train status map that shows Amtrak trains
- VMS Information
- Real-time seat availability
- Connect Transit
- Real-time schedule updates
- Push notifications (VRE current uses Everbridge to send out delay notifications, but now this will be built into the VRE mobile app, so no need for a separate app)

Later they will upgrade the monitors at the stations which are still using Windows 7
