A bit off topic, but interesting nonetheless. BDN story which outlines the Maine trucking industry's travails. Under the paragraph titled "you don't just pack up and move" is a Poland Spring statement that apparently bodes well for rail service if (PanAm) track is upgraded to proved faster service out of Maine.

Very interesting article! If autonomous driving trucks and/or platooning materialize in the next few years on the Maine Turnpike, Pan Am won't have much to haul into/out of Maine except maybe LPG. Hopefully PAR will find a way to help minimize Poland Springs' expenses hauling to the southern New England/metro NYC market.

Yeah, and Australia just introduced autonomous trains which you would think is even easier to implement.

Technology is pretty impressive but not good for us in the operating trades.
