RiverLINE TOUR Sponsered by Long Island Chapter NRHS
SATURDAY, November 19, 2011

Join us aboard the “Nellie Bly Ramble” as we journey from New York’s Penn Station to the RiverLINE’s maintenance shop and dispatching center in Camden, New Jersey.
We’ll board a NJ Transit train to Trenton, traveling along the Northeast Corridor. At Trenton, we’ll transfer to the RiverLINE and ride to their 36th St Station and walk a short distance to their facility. On the tour, we’ll see how a shop was built to handle the line’s unique DMU’s maintenance requirements. You’ll view dispatchers controlling the line via computer and keep freight separated from passenger operations!
After the tour, we’ll reboard and travel to the end of the line, with a brief layover to view the Philadelphia skyline and the battleship New Jersey. Then back to Trenton and New York City. Total mileage: 182!
Attendees will be provided a brochure, providing insight into the line’s rich heritage, the RiverLINE story, including its design for the separation of concurrent freight and RiverLINE operations, and an explanation of handling express trains in two directions!
