Too bad we only have the Acela to show the world when it comes io HSR, at a whopping 135mph. I would wager that train goes over 180mph. It is a shame that we cannot muster the funds or political resolve to accomplish such a feat as the East Asian and European nations who have HSR.

Since it is a 700 series Shinkansen exported from Japan, it can go up to 300 km/h (186mph) in regular service.

Still hits 150 mph in Rhode Island, and was tested at 169 mph. However, the larger issue is that it's twice the weight of a TGV.

And Massachusetts. On my recent trip, we held 150 from roughly Attleboro to just north of Mansfield according to my GPS receiver.
