Re: High Level Platforms

I don't know if they threw in MARC's West Baltimore station in there, since it's along the NEC and is part of the Fredrick Douglass Tunnel project. Is Aberdeen busy enough to justify conversion someday? Could it become busier or is there just not enough demand for direct Amtrak services to DC or Ph...

NFTA has some strange holes in its system, speaking from living off the 49 bus route and near a street that needs a full route. Why a route from the airport via Dick Road doesn't exist I don't get it. In order to get from Depew station to the airport, it requires 2 different bus transfers going mult...

I still would prefer a Lakehurst line be run in house at NJT. Operating commuter services separate would just introduce confusion.

Also, when I meant the Lakehurst part, I meant that the lines via Freehold and Princeton Junction were illogical.

@Roadgeek Adam Indeed. The only tourism that would really occur to my knowledge is a bus transfer to Six Flags or having a station near the Freehold Fairgrounds. Neither are going to pull in the needed revenue for some kind of service either. As is the only part of MOM that's remotely logical is th...

Brightline's strengths are in markets with high value for tourism. Lakehurst does not qualify. I don't think they want to run commuter service.

I dunno about limiting the discussion to completing to Andover (keep hope alive as it were), but for the expense of refurbing the viaducts it would seem to make sense to me to extend NJT to Stroudsburg. From there to Scranton would be - - difficult. I know track is there, but the route is awfully t...

Cause we have the Adirondack for that, and it's already suspended until we get service back into Canada. Better chance of Vermonter back to Montrealer and I honestly don't care if that never happens either.

It had to be done. There was no other way anything else was going to succeed. Exactly why? And define "succeed" in this context. Light rail extensions weren't going to happen, as much as some of us wanted one, including myself. The ROW's been encroached, WR's sinking into the river slowly...

If an Amtrak station were to ever get built in Suffolk, VA, hopefully there would be enough parking. By the way, I just remembered that the right of way used by Amtrak trains to NFK passes through Windsor-if the city doesn't want to build a station in Downtown Suffolk, then maybe Windsor would be a...

When the Norfolk service was first planned, the state said there would be a future station in the Bowers Hill section of Chesapeake. That seems to have gone the way of a second (downtown) station in NPN. Suffolk would also work as intermediate stop before Harbor Park. The pictured N&W station w...

It's probably because of CSX is why your train was dragging. It's been almost 13 years since I last took a train to NPN-this was in May of 2009. Btw Amtrak should look into adding a station between Norfolk and Petersburg-maybe somewhere in Suffolk. Once the train passes Suffolk when heading west, t...

Yes, NPN station is moving well north of the present location. There are advantages and disadvantages. One disadvantage is that it will be far away from Downtown NPN unlike where the present station is. New station will be located 9 miles up the road from the current NPN Depot. It seems that there ...
