Wikipedia states its manual since the 09 crash, but then reverts to the employee only calls out stations and does not operate the train. Which is it?
Do these cars have the same width dimensions as the DC and Atlanta Metro systems? Same cars just different caps.
Wouldn't it be interesting if Amtrak specs a double ended cab? Would make a lot of sense and make turning trains easier.
Possible new look of the locomotives........... http://www.railwaygazette.com/news/traction-rolling-stock/single-view/view/siemens-selected-for-200-kmh-us-passenger-locomotive-order.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Smart on Amtrak's part to buy a locomotive that shares a...
Was really hoping the cab cars would follow in the steps of the Hyundai-Rotem cab cars.

I find the action around Chicago Union to be fascinating. Found this video on Youtube and brought that good warm feeling of departing Chicago by train. http://www.youtube.com/embed/M6usGIOpx2o This is the Eagle leaving CUS,but I wander- 1. What train is that to the left in the station? 2. What train...
So the OP is talking about going back to the Phase 3 era, under Graham Claytor stewardship. Everything looked uniformed and professional,it didn't hurt that the F40s wore the Phase 3 paint very well. What a shocking thought, a livery that the locomotive and pax cars share. Lets compare that to what ...
Amtrak's livery is not the most important issue I know, but can we get the passenger cars and Amfleet or pax cars to wear the same livery? Take the Phase 4 blue stripe off the Amfleet and Viewliners. The red stripe on the bottom will connect with locomotives visually. The pax cars should go bare wi...

After three pages of posts, we still have no idea where the motive power is coming from? GE does not make the Genesis anymore and EMD does not make the F59 anymore.
I don't see anything particularly shocking there. There's nothing in it for CSX, so why should they support it? That's capitalism for ya *rolls eyes*..... and people wonder why progress is so hard to come by in the States nowadays..... So why was Amtrak formed? Oh yeah, thats right, there was no mon...
Once again, California extends a hearty thank-you to the people of Redneckistan. Keep returning our Federal tax money and keep sending us your smart young people. Come back to us when the NIMBYS (funny that such a progressvie state have opposition to this) get out of the way and dirt is actually mo...
Looks good, reminds of the old GE ad in Trains mag in the late nineties. The ad had the artist impression of the P40 in Phase III like this. The black on the bottom is a little too high and the black mask should have followed the crease in the hood. Other than that good job. I will state it again, i...
I don't care if they wrap it or paint but Amtrak needs a cohesive look with the locomotives and pax cars sharing a unified look. Which over overpaid marketing consultant that it was a good idea to mix Acela ( locomotives) livery with Phas IV (pax cars) livery (and having a red stripe at the bottom o...
