Thought this was interesting. Talking about reforming railroad regulation..
TP: Joaquin no doubt had the potential to cause major problems - but as we now know was not a factor to northeastern US weather. As a bit of a weather buff myself, this was a storm that definitely was one to be watched... Absolutely. My mother had me watching the hurricane center forecast all day t...
I guess a moderator can lock this, as the storm steered out to sea..
I have a thing in nyc this weekend. After that I doubt I'll be doing any traveling via NJT rail unless the company pays us or provides passes/tickets. I would rather ride SEPTA to center city and "bolt for a buck" than pay 31 dollars plus fare hike round trip. I'm sorry, but 34 dollars is ...
Is this the waterway with the dam that had to be opened due to reservoir over-filling or something?
Looks as if they are accessing the wreck via a driveway located on 12a between the bridge and stony brook rd to the west..
Before people get too excited, I should point out that this storm is no "sandy". That said, I must ask if NJT planning to move any equipment to stiles street yard in linden or elsewhere not prone to flooding? Are they altering service? Is it too soon to say? From the NWS forecasts, it look...
I just got home, but on the way, there was a large brush fire along the inbound ROW (my guess would be about 100-150 feet along the ROW) at Somerton Station. I don't know if any delays have been announced yet, but the fire department is on the scene. I have noticed for some time that the ROW has ha...
I thought geeps didn't have enough HEP for a MLV train as long as NJT typically operates. Being based on a freight locomotive, I'm sure they could physically pull a very long string of MLV..
From a strictly non-industry outsider, this recommendation seems to make a lot of sense. Hope this situation is resolved ASAP...
The NJ resident thing where you get money back is a neat program. It really does encourage people to ride, in my own personal observations. I do think the entire fare structure needs an overhaul with a bigger focus on cost benefit to the rider based on their means and travel needs. Not to be politic...
From my recollection, didn't bay head get some bad flooding during sandy? As a NJ taxpayer, I'd not like to see some new stuff put in there just to be flooded next time we have a big storm or hurricane. I don't ever ride that line or know many people that do, but it seems to be that some improvement...
Was disappointing to hear that NJT terminated at trenton per usual with no amtrak borrowing equipment. The whole weekend was a wash for any "pope train" photos. Service did terminate for SEPTA at levittown, but it looks as if that station were barely even used, as my friends and I scouted ...
ThirdRail7 wrote:If you're out and about, can you give us a report on traffic? Was this overblown?Very overblown, from what I could see. We went to levittown station to see if there were any trains parked there, but the lot was empty, just some police people. Lot of hufflepuff over nothing..
