In terms of service to GCT, this will provide no benefit beyond what currently exists. What it will do, however, is create an alternative for CT residents traveling to jobs along the Harlem Line, particularly in White Plains. The 684/84 interchange consistently backs up for miles (to the point where...

Very old news, and we still haven't seen any kind of comprehensive list out from Delta Dick detailing which corridors he'd like to (try to) tackle first. That's what I'm most interested in right now. You, me, and everyone here could shout out ideas til we're blue in the face, but I want to see what ...

Oops, that's what I meant, PVL, not the main

The good thing about building the through route is that an expanded main line schedule could operate via Meadowlands full time.

Re-Amtrak to Long Island, Jamaica should absolutely be a stop. The connection to JFK means reverse traffic riding to NEC or upstate/Hudson Valley destinations (depending on which service it is). If it's running out to Montauk, forget Babylon. Bay Shore has the largest concentration of ferries to Fir...

This really is such a waste of time and money. They might as well just bus the people in from Queens Village since a bus connection is still going to be necessary anyway.

I wish him luck. I've been arguing that a lot of LD schedules should be reconfigured to offer an overnight service between major cities (some of the schedules already line up nicely, others not so much). NYC-Montreal is a perfect one. When I drove for Greyhound in 2011, we had multiple overnight dep...

Faster than or equal to should be the goal. Fuel consumption comparisons and overall track miles that need to be maintained would also need to be factored in as well. Still, I wonder if they've ever even looked at that option. Without a doubt, the optimal passenger rail route is the current CSX line...

Tadman, this option B is EXACTLY what I've been advocating for, a connecting service at Detroit with immigration performed at the station. Far less risky operationally, better OTP, etc.

Online Customers between Selkirk and Buffalo

Where does CSX have customers between Selkirk and Buffalo? I'm asking because everyone talks about improving passenger rail service in this country but loves to forget the importance of our freight network. NYC to Toronto, to me, is ripe for far more frequent service in addition to operating over a ...

Best part of Rockaways is Rock Park. I'd say take the shuttle to Beach 90th and Beach 98th.

What type of service level do you guys see happening here if it were to happen? I can't imagine anything more than 10 minute headways being necessary. Assuming 4 tph MN and 4 tph Amtrak, that totals to 14 tph, or every 4-5 minutes. Surely the Hell Gate can handle that kind of throughput.

I just can't see rail conquering the terrain without massive capital investment, and the money would likely be better spent elsewhere where we'd get more bang for our buck. For Rockland<>Westchester<>Fairfield transportation, enhanced bus service (BRT/dedicated lanes) seems like the only reasonable ...

How close to the new station on the main line will the new Islanders facility be? If it's going to still require a shuttle bus, then this is one of the more asinine projects to come about, because at that point they might as well just use Queens Village and bus them in from there.
