Re: Berkshire & Eastern (former PAS)

B&E and CSX seem to have changed some PAS and PAR train symbols. CSX now refers to most if not all ex-PAR trains east of Rigby Yard as "Lxx" locals (eg, L069 and L070 are the symbols for the daily manifests between Rigby and Waterville that used to be called WAPO/POWA). As far as B&...

Does anyone know the operational status of this overpass following the conflagration? Is it out of service pending inspection/repair/replacement?

Apologies for not being more clear - I was thinking that a Binghamton to Mechanicville crew might set out the Ayer-bound train (including power) at Delanson for a crew to take east over CSX to Ayer. In my daily observations of 264's passage of the Elkhart live cam, in addition to the 25ish Taylor we...

An equally interesting question to me is how NS will split/merge Ayer IM traffic with the other terminals served by 264/265, ie Taylor and especially Mechanicville. And how will auto racks be added going eastbound to Ayer (I’m guessing wb racks will continue west to Binghamton on 16R). I think it’s ...

I see no evidence that either CSX or MASSDoT seek to reduce freight activity east of Worcester on the Framingham line - in fact, their effort is just the opposite: interchange traffic is building on G&U at N Grafton, and at Middleboro for Mass Coastal, C&D traffic is building on CSX operated...

I saw a post on the CSX Northern NE Facebook page there was a minor washout at Winn ME (mp 2.5) near Mattawamkeag due to heavy rain.

From the point of the proposed relocation of the north end #10 turnout between intermodal pad tracks M1 and M2 to the signal at the east wye is no more than 2,000 feet and the length of the useful M1/M2 tracks is about 3,300 ft. So a mile long 264 might get away with not setting foot on MBTA ACSES P...

Access to the MBTA main via east or west wye might be needed for headroom especially if the rear of the 264 is to be dropped first at the IM pad via pulling the whole train through and the 2nd IM cut has to pull forward to clear the switch before reversing into the 2nd pad track. And if autos for Sa...

Here's some text from the CSX supplemental filing to go along with the diagram above: The Ayer Yard improvements referenced above will consist of the following five projects, each as depicted in the map and diagram attached to the Ayer Operations Protocols: 1. Add new storage track off of the thorou...

ACSES equipped allows it lead the Selkirk-Maine trains - important to us photogs!

Would it be too much to ask for shiny new ACSES equipped Maine Central and Boston & Maine heritage units?

Here are a couple of extremely zoomed photos from 12/2/23 of the Stony Brook tracks looking east of Wagon Rd Ayer toward the curve leading to PAS end of track at CPF-312. I'm guessing the new crossover in question will go someplace in here with hopefully some main track rehab?

It looks to me looks like improvements are being made at the Arrowhead trash unloading facility at Ayer. The area where the piggypacker works on the southernmost track appears to be freshly paved and it looks the northernmost 4th track (used for storage/staging) has been extended to the office.

This is the first Ardent Mills-bound grain train to be operated by B&E over PAS from RJ to Ayer (in fact, I think its PAS symbol was RJAY). Previous unit grain trains unloaded at Ardent Mills by B&E crews came via the B&A and the Worcester main and generally had the BNSF power removed at...
