The on board experience is night-and-day different. This is asinine.

Is the sort of thing that PTC would be expected to prevent? Is it Amtrak or NJT that is not finished installing for this (eg. track or on board?). My understanding is that most of the time required was the investigation after the incident. Would that still be true?

I saw a complaint about that too: that NJT was too optimistic or wasn't saying how bad things really were. My understanding of the situation from reading what NJT has said is that the situation was really really dire. They couldn't even run a Sunday schedule with the crews available reliably. They'r...

Literally the first sentence in the article is One of the state’s oldest commuter groups and a petition started by riders are calling for NJ Transit’s CEO to step down and state's oldest commuter groups is a hyperlink to the NJ-ARP website. Did they change the article when you read it? The article ...

Does NJT use ACSES on the NEC? My understanding was that yes, they have for years, and so it would not prevent an incident like this. Is that true?

I’ve also read that article and don’t see anyplace where NJ-ARP is calling for anyone’s resignation. Some random Twitter account that claims to be an advocacy group has. I don’t know what, if any, group they are associated with.

I’m not sure if this is good or bad, but I struggle to think of a positive change that came from Anderson’s tenure. Yes, lots of things are positive if you think stripping Amtrak to the bare bones is positive. Not talking about that, obviously.

Yes, it is. We seem to have ample money to give to far less worthy pursuits.

NY Penn Station (Dumpy station in a semi-dodgy area) Midtown is a dodgy area? Lord, where are you from? Please keep in mind: I grew up there. I have family there. I ride these trains all the time. I was there yesterday. I'm not talking out of my a**, I'm giving you the straight dope on how this wor...

It should be noted you still have the option of sitting at a table in the dining car, even with strangers like before, if you want to. While Im going to wait to judge until I taste the new meals, if you still want to chat with people in the diner, that is still possible and now you can actually go ...

New London has a fair amount of decent food in the area. Captain Scott's Lobster Dock is where we went last we were in town, and on the way back took out pizza that we ordered ahead from 2 Wives (they have vegan options). Also good. Neither is that close to the station (if you look at the geography,...

They added amenity kits to the Lake Shore Limited and Capitol Limited when they removed dining service. Nothing special. Was a clear plastic bag at that time with hotel toiletries in it, essentially. Poor substitute for real food.

It's a downgrade. The Cardinal had similar downgraded dining to the Lake Shore Limited before this change, which was still better than this.

Albany-Rensselaer has a bar/restaurant called "June's" across the parking lot. Was just there the other day. Limited menu, but it does the trick. There are a few other places a few blocks away if one has a longer period of time. Personally, I prefer "The Hollow" across the river ...

Did I read that right, ApproachMedium, that there's talk of reactivating the Comet IV cabs?
