Taking an off-topic shot here... hopefully the degrees of connection might work. My brother-in-law left his laptop bag on a train in Buffalo. He has had zero luck with lost & found... can't seem to get anyone's attention or any response beyond "We'll let you know in 30 days" Anyone hav...

These are operating sessions held at various layouts stretching from New Jersey to the end of Long Island. Go to the website link and select "Layouts". You can sign up to operate at any of the layouts (assuming they aren't booked up)

Yes, it is strange that the photos in the replies are upside down, yet display right side up when clicked. BTW these photios give a good feeling fior the incredible forces involved in a major derailment. I see one photo where one rail of a frog is just ripped away. Used to live in Allegany, NY and w...

And of course the opposite was also true.. Often rode the 7:10 from Hempstead to Penn. In the winter the MP54s would do a cold-soak all night - I remember having to scrape the ice off the INSIDE of the window!

One thing omitted from the MP54 discussion... the sometimes over-enthusiastic heating system. I remember sitting next to the window, foot on the heating duct, slowly being parbroiled. Especially magnificent if you were stuck in a smoker car with a good five cent cigar in the mouth of the guy in the ...

I'm guessing the Mineola Main St. crossing will be eliminated by dead-ending that street on both sides; which is unfortunate in my opinion. And I predict it will be replaced by a pedestrian overpass that will serve both Main St. and the current ped crossing. :( Yes I read that Main Street crossing ...

Could the imposed delay be because of arrival slot availability at Jamaica or possibly Penn?

Don't think so. They are MP75s but are missing the slogan below the windows "Your STEEL THRUWAY to the FAIR GATEWAY" and the World's Fair symbol. So that says some years later..not sure when they removed that slogan. 1967?

Saturday at the Syracuse train show I ran into Steve Funaro (of Funaro & Camerlengo ). He mentioned plans for new kits MP41 and a corrected MP75 (his previous kit had two copies of the same side so the windows did not line up across the car). He also mentioned he is working on a lengthy article ...

Also why the LIRR ran the Alcos long hood forward. BTW this topic just cost me a couple of hundred bucks.. just ordered a Rapido HO Scale RDC-2 (with DCC and sound). Aleady got the T-54 to tow behind :-D
