Or, Amtrak could do more of the kind of convertible (non-room) seating that we're seeing on premium sleeper bus services. Sometimes that's a coffin-shaped bed (as we saw on California's LA-SF Cabin) Sometimes that's a two-seats-convert bed (now serving WAS-NAS) https://news.yahoo.com/traveled-luxury...

They don’t, but it’d sure be nice to buy highly standard EMU equipment. Swapping in a 60hz-only module would be fine if it saved a little weight and cost

I suspect this is going to feel like "why doesn't the Vegas Monorail go to the Airport" Not that it is exactly similar, but that the stop-locations are not the same as the usual transit demand nodes--the various facilities "free market" incentives and interest-group incentives ar...

ALL the Orlando Parks' pricing shows how many days they think the average customer wants to "do" the park. Disney's 2nd, 3rd, & 4th day costs about as much as the first day and then the price drops for Day 5 and then really drops beyond day 7. This suggests that Disney thinks you'll na...

Yea, it seems to me this just means the WDW station will be built by Birghtline in the I-4 right of way.

I'm interested in the pattern of service this makes for Charlottesville (rounded) and assuming that Crescent & Cardinal are both running. It still doesn't quite make the kind of "full day in DC" that the Tidewater got with its 5am / 6am kinda departures. I still see the need for a serv...

Great news on Rockland. Is the goal upping both weight and speed? Rockland is important because it is a place I-95 doesn't go.

VADRPT has announced the Highlands Rhythm a new bus timed do Bristol-DC 11am to 6pm and to do DC-Bristol 1pm to 8pm. At 7 hours, there was never going to be day-tripping, but it beats any possible train schedule Bristol-DC by between 40 minutes to more than an hour. I think it will be the permanent ...

VADRPT has announced another state sponsored bus, this time starting in Bristol and hitting all the college towns along I-81 before turning to Dulles Airport and DC. As with previous buses overlaying the Amtrak network, the Schedule is designed that its DC Area legs are either midday or contra-rush ...

There is a difference between a taking to provide the rail service, and a taking to provide land for an office tower next to the rail line. Name a time when real estate development next to railroads created via eminent domain wasn't a thing. How are these not examples of office towers created for t...

Taking people's property by eminent domain for the benefit of a private company, and providing them with preferential zoning, that is illegal and unethical and just wrong. Incorrect. It is, rather, exactly how a majority of track-miles in the eastern US came to be built 1830 to 1930, and turnpikes ...

Have the trainsets continued to be delivered (completed-except-for-the-pantograph-mods)? OR are there still supply chain problems?
