This poster has a real concern about P-40 and P-42 retirements. It is the unbelievable number of grade crossing accidents. I take Umbrage on the statement Anderson has improved on time service. He has had absolutely no influence on NS to improve its OTP. The Crescent is actually getting worse south of CLT.

There is no way to know future demand for the end of -1 service and -2 services in full swing. The Crescent is just going down the tubes. Is your #20 times for WASH or NYP ? When I compared 20 it usually made up some time WASH - NYP/ Also 20 originated at ATL 9 or 12 times.

The problem IMO is that almost all NJT and some Amtrak trains reverse direction at NYP. There just is not enough tracks at NYP for those two to stack up more before you have to reverse the one bore. At first I could not understand the 75% figure. However it appears that there is not enough platform track capacity at NYP to allow for say a full 30 minutes of say 15 trains inbound with 15 trains waiting at NYP to go outbound for 30 minutes. Anyone dispute that ?

Spare equipment probably 3 years in future depending on how many Amfleets and Horizons are still operational at that time. That wag based on present deliveries and commitments for both present service and proposed future service listed on Amtrak's publicized plans.

The south of the lake track proposal is very important to get on time performance. However what about passing sidings ? Either use one NS track as a passing siding with the obvious potential for more delays or the additional cost of several 10k passing sidings every 10 miles or so. ?
