Nothing on here since August 7th?????
I would love to hear the latest from this fascinating operation, if I were still in the northeast you can bet I would ride this one at least once and probably more than once.
Thanks folks.

Brightline made the news again today and I think it is positive. Here is the link:

I have heard from a fairly reliable source that when the dome car trips are finished later this fall on the Adirondack the car will be retired, all done. What a loss this will be.

Report now is that Brightline is considering a stop on the Treasure Coast. Here is a link. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/florida/fl-reg-tcpalm-brightline-treasure-coast-20180828-story.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I think this is a very positive move. Noel Weaver
"A" Posts were used on various sidings and industrial spurs that were on a grade and they directed the crew to have the air brakes connected and operaable on on all moves taking place on such tracks. In this case a brake test was also required to insure that the air was going through the e...
I have some track charts of this territory but they are buried and might not become available for a bit. I believe the highest spot is 86th Street. I can remember working train 362 back when and when we passed 86th Street we would shut off and drift all the way to Melrose. Train 362 did not stop at ...
Here is another opportunity to ride from Thomaston to Torrington and back. It is a ride well worth doing.

Detours, I doubt it very much. I can't imagine CSX or NS for that matter either allowing passenger trains to interfere with their profitable and important freight opeerations and that is exactly what will happen if they open up their railroads to Amtrak and other passenger operations. I was lucky en...
I had the experience of riding this dome car on the Amtrak test trip on the Florida East Coast back in the spring of 2010 and what an experience it was. The car was so smooth riding over the excellent FEC roadbed, the AC worked perfectly, it was super comfortable and the viewing was suberb. I sure h...
As usual, great stuff, I enjoyed watching it. Thanks for sharing.

Having lived in the Tampa area for over 20 years, I am well aware of the Silver Star. In my haste to post my comment last night I should have clarified that I meant that we would finally have meaningful and reliable and convenient passenger rail service between Tampa and Miami when Brightline expan...
It is so sad to see things around Waterbury as they presently are and were on my last trip there in 2010 as well. All of the towns and cities in the Naugatuck Valley were very prosperous at one time back in the 50's, 60's and well into the 70's. Then as the heavy industries closed or moved out thing...
There is no doubt in my mind that a decent intercity service within Florida would be a winner for all concerned. Yes!, Tri-Rail is a commuter service in every respect although a rather longer distance commuter operation. I have ridden Tri-Rail within the past month a couple of different times and th...
Another anniversary of the 1955 flood. I don't think this wiped out the New Haven Railroad but it was a lot harder for the New Haven to recover because of McGinnis who wasted a lot of money prior to August 19, 1955. I will NEVER FORGET this fateful day.
