The MBTA is a division of MassDOT. the Department of Transportation can't reimburse itself.

4 cars is the minimum required for adequate braking. Trains with fewer than 4 cars are subject to speed restrictions.

Flanger signs tell snow plowing equipment to raise the flanger when approaching an obstruction in the gauge, most often a crossing or a bridge with guardrails.

The entire line isn't a swamp, and if the line doesn't get built through the swamp it also doesn't get built near the houses it abuts.

"...through the open window she hands Charlie a sandwich..."

Re: Equipment, she hands Charlie the sandwich as the "train" comes rumbling through. So I'd lean towards either a train of PCCs or perhaps a Type 4 with Center Entrance trailer if that was still a thing then.

I don't think officials should be required to live in the district, in the state should be good enough IMO. Even if they had a ride the service requirement, which I support, driving to a Commuter Rail stop to commute in is acceptable.

The Anzuonis were in the same boat as the Picknellys opposing rail service and for obviously good (personally beneficial) reason. A head of state worth his stones would figure out a way to make a better suited system for the people of the commonwealth benefit also the private interests that have act...

The T is running out of manufacturers to play ball with.

Keolis has kept the Commuter Rail running very well over the past few years, contrary to the state-run subway/bus systems which are pretty much broken right now. Just sayin. Those are some pretty spiffy rose colored glasses you've got on! Ex-Keolis Employee Charged in Scheme to Steal $8M Meant for ...

And yet nobody questioned Siemens building equipment for Amtrak and a whole host of states... Regardless, it seems some people are so opposed to contracting out they will use whatever strawman argument they can to say why it's better to have more state employees than it is to be good stewards of ho...

Not all of it. And through a land swap with the Pike the plan for West Station includes layover tracks at Beacon Park.

There's also a lot a lot of institutional knowledge that simply changes companies along with the contract, especially in the lower and middle levels where it matters the most. Where it matters the most is where funding is allocated and policy is set. Institutional knowledge is negated when new regi...

I don't have a problem with actual railroad companies continuing to operate service, and would agree that it's likely superior to government agency control. It made sense to pay the B&M, NH, and PC to run their trains. It's when you have these multifunctional conglomerates with no institutional ...

How is Keolis “failing the commonwealth”. Apparently, you're not paying attention. Corollary: is hiring Amtrak to operate state sponsored service instead of Keolis failing the commonwealth? Why is CTDOTs vendor allowed to run trains to Springfield? Short answer, not really but probably kind of. Re:...
