Hi Steve, The bonding jumpers are so there is a sure electrical connection between the two sections of rail. As you likely know, the 3rd rail return and signal track circuits use the running rails. the joint bar is deemed not a significant enough connection for the circuits, so there is that bonding...

Kind of ironic that the first cars in the new Ronkonkoma yard are nearly 40 year old scrap.

It is a real patch, If I'm not mistaken, they're still on the 'CAM Uniforms'
I don't know of many CAMs that actually request the uniforms but they are entitled to it by union agreement.

Basically navy blue work wear, and the patch i believe is still the same.

Also as we found out, cost. Lol. I think the M8 S car costs nearly what a pair of M8s does, and it can’t even run on its own.

48 M3 cars have seen their last passenger. They are being decommissioned and set out. No word on scrapping them is official. These are nearly allthe non-ACSES equipped cars. Only one non-ACSES pair is remaining on the roster for the time being. 9887-8, how much longer who knows. The other 80 cars re...

Yes! Thats the image I remember from the board in Hillisde. I dont remember the caption under it, although its clearly the original M7 concept.

Supposedly there was an M5 in the planning. It night have even been a single car variant, but the idea was evidently scrapped. I suppose, once Metro North had the M6 rolling around, the next forward model Metropolitan was the M7, we cannot go back. When I hired on, in hillside was a big wall display...

I'm no expert on this, it looks familiar in a modern day scope. Possibly the Richmond Hill Team Track? THe Brick building would be where the Key Food is now, it appears you can make out the 89th Ave trestle in the distance with the signal bridge on the Montauk (after the coach cars) Richmond Hill Sh...

I'm surprised LIRR did that. I thought they would try to save money by not doing the M-3's since they're going to be gone anyway as the new M-9's take their place, if the rest of them get into service anytime soon. Kudo's to LIRR for having sense enough to keep some of the M-3's available. Not much...

Additional stations not owned by the LIRR are East New York, Nostrand Avenue and Flatbush Avenue, which are owned by the City of New York and leased to the MTA. Surprised to see FBA, as that is what is left of the old terminal building. Nostrand and ENY didnt surprise me, the whole grade separation...

Have they retired more M3s lately? Sent any to scrap? The pair at Blissville are still down there, acquiring new coats of paint all the time. No more have been officially decommissioned. The four pair in my last post are still where they were then. What is happening now is mostly all the M3s are si...
