Good Stuff here! Very true about not knowing the rules. As a retired RR employee, I can tell you a lot of instances of "foamers" trying to tell me how to do my job, or even SCOLDING me for "doing it wrong". I had a discussion on another board where, tho friendly, the thread becam...

All very true. I can't really speak from experience since I was a Clerk/Op (along with a whole host of other things off the Extra Board). I guess the closest I came was "deadheading" with a crew where we got put in the hole for a long time. I got called off the Board to outlying stations, ...

We've had some cases around here (NC) where somebody posed as a cop and attempted to stop people. Authorities now tell people if they think the person doing the stop is an impersonator, slow down, acknowledge the officer, set your flashers, and drive slowly to a place where there are other people. T...

After reading this board, I noticed somebody remarked about how some people think conductors sit around 7 out of 8 hours and do mostly nothing! :-D No WONDER I see so many railroad "foamers" talking about becoming a conductor! Boy are THEY ever in for a surprise. :-D Why, they might...

Greetings, Having lurked for awhile, I could not resist the debate such as represented by this thread. I am a crossover from another railroad site and you may recognize my sign in. This subject was also covered on that other board. Do railroads tend to not hire known railfans? It depends. I am an NS...
