I've seen two different 97xx's in the past two weeks with odd decal jobs... they had the "Canadian Pacific" lettering spelled out in a single line on the carbody... no beaver.. and the paint looked like someone had taken off the old paint with a grinder, then rolled new paint over top the ...

Most of the rails around here wouldn't be able to handle the torture of 6-axle power on yard duties. Poor track would get all torn up... mainline rail is much beefier.

I'm trying to find information on the trail that runs along the old BNSF line from Government Street (near Hwy 1/Gagliardi area) up to Lake City... in Burnaby, BC. I understand it used to be a spur line to the Lake City industrial area... but that's about it. I'm assuming it used to run just south o...

..or is CN putting their money on the chance that UP and BNSF have maintained these Dash 8's better than CN has maintained anything in the past 15 years...? It seems like everything in our fleet is neglected to the point of imminent failure. And training, parts, etc... are impossible to come by. May...

We had a yard engine the other day, breaking the wheels free... the output from the WS module, one of the wires had come off... damn thing would spin the wheels til the overspeed kicked in. No output from teh WS module means no protection against wheel slip.. and Sparks a flyin'!

I suspect they will see a second life in the second hand market as lease units, picked up by a Class 1 like Canadian National looking for a bargain on modern locomotives . Ding ding ding, we have a winner! Not those particular ones... but CN has picked up a bunch of ex-Santa Fe Dash 8's... to be re...
