Re: IC 1007?

Where in the world did they put the DP screens? Like the 1000's aren't cluttered enough already... Looks like they made a bracket to hang it from the side of the control stand. See attached pic. Appears to have the Wabtec Fastbrake handles now, no longer the Epic 2 brakes. Could be wrong, I didn't ...

To start with, by no means am I disagreeing with CN Sparky and Typewriters. What they wrote is correct. Like was mentioned about energizing the Governor Valves, you also have a TH module also. Pin 4 is "A" valve, Pin 5 is "B" valve, Pin 6 is "C" valve and Pin 7 is &quo...

Realistically, the throttle controls the amount of power you get. Technically, the throttle operates the governor A,B,C and D solenoids for a certain engine RPM. Then the excitation system controls the amount of power output by gating SCR's, etc, to control the alternator or generator "field&qu...

Looks like a whole slew of them have been released now. No repaints..

IC 1000, 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004 are all out and about. I saw pics of 1001-1004 together.. all still wearing Death Star paint, but with DP marker light boxes welded above the ditch lights.

You could put on more grids and make more braking power available, but at what point would that extra braking force exceed the coupler strength? Then you'd have a real bad runaway... You'd need to come up with a heck of a cable system for MU'ing too.. you need the traction alternator there (driven b...

Gulf expansion is underway.. 57B is "temporarily" closed for the extension/connection of the middle and south tracks. Looks like they'll be able to accommodate around 12,000 feet of train when it's completed.

I've seen two different 97xx's in the past two weeks with odd decal jobs... they had the "Canadian Pacific" lettering spelled out in a single line on the carbody... no beaver.. and the paint looked like someone had taken off the old paint with a grinder, then rolled new paint over top the...

Someone managed to catch IC 1008 yesterday.. looks like it's been released from the DP mods too, notice the red end-of-train marker light above the ditch light:

No idea. I haven't seen any drawings of where it was even proposed... kinda curious. If (when?) I see it, I'll take some pics for all to see.

It was sold to Rail Road Power Leasing (RRPX) a long time ago.. February? I believe... but it didn't move from the shops in Toronto until July or so, needed trucks to move on ;)

IC 1007?

Anyone seen it in the last few days?

Apparently it has just been released from Quality Rail, after undergoing some mods... I believe it's got DPU stuff onboard now. Curious to see if QRS painted it to CN colours or not, among other things...

The problem is that people don't stick together. Too many remote operators only think of themselves. Many operators make the remote system work by taking short cuts and going too fast. If you follow the rules and always provide point protection, remotes would not be used. When operators go too fast...

Paint scheme history?

I came to the realization that I don't know much about the various paint schemes and when/where they came from. I think the 'sargeant stripes' debuted around 1973?? That's about all I know. (sad, I realize) Where might I look to find this kind of info? When a paint scheme started/ended, what locomot...

Looks like stretched SW1200! Some wierd export. Never seen a 6 axle EMD switcher. http://www.flickr.com/photos/deutzhumslet/5209971367/ Not sure what that is... but as far as 6 axle switchers... have you never seen a CN GMD1 with A-1-A trucks? Those have 6 axles (though only 4 are powered). Or shou...
