Mr. Weaver, from the Googlemobile's latest "drive-by", there appears to be an entrance from Clementia to the station. I trust that will be available whenever the service commences, as that would appear to be a convenient entrance from N-S thoroughfare, Quadrille. I would assume that the e...
That said, take a look at that curve. Good God. Coming out of MAS79 territory into that? They couldn't mitigate that curve? Likely not without great expense, given that it was an upgrade of an existing minor branch. That overpass has probably been there since I-5 was built, and was more than adequa...
In regards to the 30 MPH restricted speed sign, maybe that was for freight? I know with LIRR that MAS is 60 for pax and 40 for freight...but 81 vs. 30 seems high. KING-5, one of the local networks, showed a shot of the restricted speed signs before the curve. I didn't get a screenshot, but it was v...
AP is now reporting that there was an "obstruction on the tracks".
Oddly though the SC-44 remained upright and is sitting on the highway.Yeah the Charger actually looks in decent shape. Pretty banged up in the front, and the roof is currently off of it for some reason, but it looks largely intact.
King 5 has footage showing a speed restriction sign just before the curve the train derailed on - 30 mph. Lots of speculation of the train going too fast, based on the last reported speed on the Amtrak train tracker being 81 mph.
500 is currently heading north via the old Point Defiance route.
Live news broadcast here: http://www.kgw.com/news/amtrak-cascades-train-derails-near-olympia-onto-i-5/500305839" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Looks pretty bad. At least one car is smashed to bits upside down. No word on casualties yet. Train 501 was the train involved. Rat...
Thank you for confirming that!
Kinda surprised I haven't seen this posted here... (apologies if it was and I missed it) http://www.miamitodaynews.com/2017/12/05/brightline-rail-service-bonds-get-noninvestment-grade/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Not great news for Brightline, but some interesting info o...

Are you sure? I didn't think the Long Bridge project extended that far. A quick check of MaineDOT's progress photos and available plans seems to indicate that construction won't extend any farther than Bridge St. Seems like I need to check it out next time I'm through there.
For the "sim", the many X-ings are being guarded by sworn peace officers. Once regular operations start, that Law Enforcement presence cannot be expected to be maintained. Safe bet is somebody will get "clipped". And what makes these grade crossings any more dangerous than the h...
