I dont know if the TRU warehouse wil ever get service again, but the google maps satelite view shows the spur that runs along the warehouse has been paved over. I guess the building will never get rail service again. Anyone know who uses the building now and if ME has ever tried getting them on as a...

Interesting point. I cannot see a utility using it as the track stub ends at Clyde Rd. Interestingly, CR only bought the row up to Clyde Rd. Over the years, Penn Central sold the rest of the row from Clyde out to the millstone river. Most was purchased by home owners whose property butted up against...

I think CRSA embargoed the line west of Rt 27. From 1972-2001 no use and from 2002-present no use. Idk why the line was never abandoned past Rt 27. When Herman started getting shipments CR heavily rehabbed the line. Theu even replaced the switch to the warehouse on Veronica Ave and I dont understand...

Here is the end of the branch that used to go up to the mainline north of Bath, PA. That barn must have been a customer at one time there is still a switch in to where the siding was and check out that awesome iron sign! Can't understand why this track was not torn up. Nothing moving on it since 196...

Took a ride to check out the Millstone branch in Franklin Twp today. Needless to say it hasn't seen a turn of the wheels in 20 years and the tracks are not even recognizable. They have been paved over on Clyde Rd and Veronica Rd. Crossbucks removed. Interestin...

I'm staying in Phillipsburg PA with some friends and we want to head into NYC but don't want to drive. We wanna take the train. Yards around Buffalo Central Terminal

I was looking at some satelite maps of BCT and noticed what appeared to be a lot of old RR yard land around the terminal in all directions. Took a look at the historical arials and sure enough there was a few very large yard in proximity, one to the east was huge. Now they are all gone or reduced to...

Why did NS tear out Altoona Yards?

Just noticed that the yards that were always busy in Altoona, PA are torn out. It's the large yard that was under the 8th St bridge. I'm assuming it was NS that tore it out as the arials still show it in place and jammed with boxcars in 2010 but by 2013 it's all gone. Today just grassy fields. Why w...

Somerset county finally (20 years after the advent of the internet) finally has an interactive tax map online that shows land parcels and their current owner with other data. I was following the millstone branch thru Franklin Twp. For some reason the part that NS currently owns everything on the tax...

What happened to CNJ in Penna after 1972?

When the CNJ pulled out of Penna in 1972, who actually owned their mainline from Jim Thrope thru the gorge at the time? I have pics from the early-mid 1970s that show the mainline track still in place. Who actually owned the track at the time and who/when was it finally pulled out?

The "Karl Stirner Arts Trail" was a branch off the E&N that went eastward along side/under the Rt 22 S-curves. It did go over a narrow bridge over the Bushkill Creek. This bridge is still there burried in the woods. This branch of the E&N went over the bridge, served the scrap meta...

Hamburg PA line customer

by carajul ¦  Mon Sep 10, 2018 2:57 am ¦  Forum: Pennsylvania Railfan ¦  Topic: Hamburg PA line customer ¦  Replies: 0 ¦  Views: 2885

Does Cougle's Recylcling in Hamburg, PA use rail service? I think they have a long spur onto their property/warehouse. Most recycle places use rail service. But the R&N is using that Hamburg line as storage for those oil tanker cars.
