The following is an excerpt from "The Lake & Valley Clarion":

As part of the Winter Lecture Series taking place at the William Hoyte Center at the Mt. Morris dam, William Reddy and Howard Appell will be presenting a program on local railroad history entitled "Rails Along, Around, and Over the Gorge."
There will be a lecture, slide show and display of scale models featuring railroads in the vicinity of Letchworth Park: the Erie, Pennsylvania, Lackawanna and Baltimore & Ohio, the predecessor and successor companies, including the Swains branch and the Silver Lake branch.
Reddy and Appell both are lifetime railroad hobbyists and researchers. Appell is a local journalist and Reddy is a retired locomotive engineer who has been employed by the Pennsylvania, Lackawanna, Erie and Conrail.
The program will take place at 1pm on Saturday, 2/26. The Visitor Center is located off State Route 408, 1.7 miles south of Mt. Morris and 11 miles north of Nunda. For further information call 585-658-4790.
