President opens Dakar TER at last
Like many African projects, it seems aid money has been used to build a high quality railway to just out of town , where it peters out. though it seems more money is available to extend it in the future.
It also mentions the infamous Dakar to Mali train is no longer. Even in my adventurous youth days ,I baulked at this multi day journey . though a large part of my reasoning was the lack of a cheap airfare from Dakar back to Europe. Instead , i took a bus /train journey form Mali to Serria Leone, where the diamond smugglers provided a cheap KLM flight to Holland.
