Just wondering if there are any 4000-4300 MU's to be found anywhere?

UpperHarlemLine4ever wrote:Thanks Otto but I'm tallking actual cars. A few years ago there apparently were 2 in Weillington Ohio but I was curious if there any other. Don't know if the cars in Wellington still exist. You're not listening. I'll replace friendly sarcasm with fact: If you're asking about 4500-series cars which ended life on Metro-North ("ACMU's"), then those were all shipped out to Ohio and are property of FICX. I'll repeat that all 4000-4300 series cars were scrapped a generation ago.
UpperHarlemLine4ever wrote:No, as a matter of fact, I'm talking about the old standard coach style MU's which actually were the original MU cars for NYC. Thee were a few around until the M1-s came into service. They never saw service as Metro-North. The last series I believe was numbered in the 4400's. I am NOT talking about the 4500's. Just like there are tons of DL&W old electric MU's around, thought perhaps someone knew if any of these old relics survived. As in my first response to your question, the answer is still NO.
UpperHarlemLine4ever wrote:It is a shame that so little of the great NY Central survives. You find GG1's all over the place, no T-Motors or P-Motors (other than that rusted out T-Motor in the Albany area); there are LIRR and PRR MP-54's all around but alas no NYC MU's. Any chance of seeing the picture of that last old MU?There's an operable S-motor at IRM, there's also one at St. Louis Museum of Transportation. There's also an S-motor rusting in the weeds with the T-3a motor up in Glenmont, NY.

Found on a trip report on the Carthage, Knightstown & Shirley, a disconnected train ride out in the midwest:

I know the PRR and later PC had a couple of coaches which could be used to make a back up move with a passenger train. I think one of them was used between Camdem, NJ and Pemberton, NJ during the last years of passenger train operation on that branch. I think the train went partway out from Camden in the rush hours, turned and went back to Camden for another trip and in order to save time the conductor rode the rear car on the back up move which was still more or less under the control of the engineer from the locomotive.
