Automated Station Announcements

Despite being "broke", METRA has found $$$ to install automated station announcements "train approaching" "train late" etc.

The one that astounds me is that an Inbound BNSF train is Southbound????

Last time I checked, Timetable Direction on the BNSF Chicago Sub is East and West.

This has been long in the making, these annoucements have been on SWS for over a year. See New Automated Station Announcements for additional posts about them. They are probably tied in with GPS upgrades, other agencies have similiar annoucements, I know they exist on the Northeast Corridor.
