Hey guys,

I want to get out soon and catch some of the Nirc SW1500's in action. What is my best bet for catching one? Where are they based? ANyone here know when I might catch one on a work train?

They're commonly found at either 47th St. or Western Ave. Once in a while you'll catch one shuttling cars between districts via the SCAL, but moves like that aren't on any regular type of schedule, you'd just have to get lucky. You might want to take a trip up north to see if they're in work train service during middays on the Fox Lake branch as the track upgrade project continues west of Grayslake, which is supposed to wrap up at the end of the month...

Cool, I've seen them make that Rock-BNSF transfer a few times. Anyone know a good vantage point for pictures @ 47th. Nirc 2 is always evading me there.
