Found this article on the stall on the airport relocation project. I have also found computer graphics of the relocations from a south bend airport board meeting. Thoughts or concerns on the new proposal? probably won't start for another year or so becaus of finances.

The relocation is more ambitious than I thought. I didnt think they would want to relocate Lincolnway west.

They show grade crossing suggestions but I think its better they just grade separate road and railway since they want to go this far with construction. Geezow, totally move the Bypass connections, I dunno if they want to take out the turn loops.

It would be logical in my mind that when they moved lincolway w. a few years ago, that they were already moved with this rail relocation in mind.. if you look at the westernmost traffic circle there is a stub for a yet to be built road.

IIRC this relocation will be paid for with stimulus money. I'll miss watching the trains along Bendix (the closest South Bend has to street running) and I will certainly miss having easy access to the trains from the old National Weather Service parking lot (tucked behind the bus terminal, unless they put a rail commuter lot back there, is hidden) but getting an expanded platform and faster service helps the service.
