Here we go again, another derailment. Saratoga yard this time, afternoon
yard shoving 59 cars onto the runner off the yard lead put four Metro-North
cars and two spacer flats on the ground. Not a pretty site to see brand new
million dollar cars twisted. CP called in the big guns from Canada,
"accident specialist",to review this mess. Sometime this am RJ Corman will
show up to begin cleaning up, I would image this will take all day, I think
the cars are a loss. No idea why they ship brand new commuter cars without
putting on flats is beyond me.....oh well I guess around 5pm today when
someone gets fired they'll be asked the same question. Anyhow, we built 251
on the westside yard and put 250 away from the south end of the yard.
Kenwood is still crippled from the 514 derailment yesterday, KN1 and short 5
are OOS. 7 derailments this month, 5 in 4 days. Guess that tells ya the
state of disrepair the property is in. Short crews, engines, cars and now
MOW personal! Were ready to start all that new NS traffic!!!

How bad is the damage to the cars? If they are total losses, whose insurance has to pay for 4 new cars.

Ugh! That is a real loss. Sorry to hear about it.

They are Bombardier's cars till MNCR accepts them so no loss for MNCR, they will get their totaL amount of cars specified by contract. while traveling those cars are labeled BBDX 4*** etc their Bombardier designation.

Wow, what a shame. Anyone out their with their camreas?
Strange to hear that MNCR's cars are not on flats.

Shipping on flats cost you twice the car movement(the flats still need to go back,The damage done is not confirmed, and can be exagerated. the M-7's are fully rated rail cars and if handled in blocks are safe to move even with the Automatic couplers.
The two Idler cars are there just for Handbrake purpose , as M-7 handbrakes are inside and locked.
LIRR has a ramp to load and unload transit cars. MNCR does not and would need two huge cranes for each delivery, so shipping on own wheels is better.

Maybe Metro North should use LIRR's ramp for future deliveries.

From Hudson river list on Yahoo.

From a Metro-North staffer:

And Weakcheeks unless you have substance to our discussions , I would stay out of it, your input here on these boards according your past posts is nothing more than trolling and trying to get people pissed off at each other.

Wow, that is quite a different story compared to the preliminary one. Glad to hear they weren't destroyed. Amazing how this story was greatly exagerated initially.
