A little less noise and a little more clean air would make Fred Powell a happier man.

Powell has lived in Spring Valley for nearly 40 years, and has spent most of that time within an easy softball toss of the railroad tracks.

Of course, this problem could be solved if the Piermont Branch were rehabbed and the Pascack Vally trains stored in Suffern yard. There would undoubtedly be NIMBY complaints, but Suffern yard is a much better place for those trains, and being able to use the Piermont branch between Suffern and Spring Valley would provide useful operational flexibility.

This guy needs to get a life. It's simple. The trains were there first, then he moved in. He has to deal with the consequences of moving there. Yeah, the trains should be at Suffern, but for now, this guy should just deal with the consequences of his actions.

well until they electrify the entire system (which will never happen) and/or relocate the yard to suffern (a bit more doable), this guy and all the rest of the NIMBY's will just have to deal with it...
