so, pardon the n00b question, but what exactly is a WORM anyway?

Those that live West Of Regal Montclair on the Montlclair-Boonton Line beyond the electrified limits.

why is it "Regal" Montclair?

Regal Montclair as in the "republic of montclair" as I assume.

Oh, man, is that one can o' worms!

man, i must have really missed something while living in nj. we have a republic in montclair now?
....seriously though, that sounds more pretentious than anything else. who coined this term anyway? why not something like WOGN (great notch) or WOTY (the yard)? lol.

It is because Montclair has a grand total of six railroad stations on this line, 1½ miles apart on average (Bay Street, Walnut Street, Watchung Avenue, Upper Montclair, Mountain Avenue, Montclair Heights)—and almost all trains make all stops throughout. They also have the lions' share of Midtown Direct service on this line...

We also say WORM because we feel like second class citizens. So regal Montclair gets ANOTHER station, and has also held up additional service for us westerners, and has held up weekend service. We could also say royal, as in "royal pain in the a**".

IR, do you still have that picture you made with the worm on the front of the schedule?

Since the have the luxury of having a grand total of seven stations it should be called ROYAL Montclair

Who is the original creator of that term? is it the idiot?

Oh, and a schedule with a picture of a worm on it. This I gotta see.

It's still six stations. MSU Boondoggle is actually in Little Falls. And IIRC, "regal" and "royal" are synonyms, one being derived from the Latin for "king", the other from French for the same term.
