The guys on SubChat are having difficulties identifying the locations on these two photos which appear to be the same station. Some guesses include Woodside (which I doubt) and Rockaway Park. Anyone out there know???

I believe there is a simular photo in the book "Change at Ozone Park"
I'll have to check my copy.

Yeah, some people said Woodside, but hopefully they've thought better by now. People mentioned the Elmhurst gas tanks-- those were the ones just north of the LI Expressway, just east of the NY Connecting RR? Which is a mile and a half from Woodside.

Those black-on-orange (?) numbers on the cars-- does that make the date later than 1950? When did Woodside get high platforms, anyway?

Yes, the photos were both taken after 1953.

Rockaway Park, looking east towards the gas storage tanks.

The paint color scheme on the cars is "Tichy" which was a white roof, light gray body and numbers in a rectangular highlighted block.

The yard tracks to the right of the platform fence in the one shot have been recently removed.

I have a shot from the other direction, looking in towards the depot area after the yard tracks were removed in that spot and the photo is dated 1955.
