Lackawaxen's a nice area for train photography, lots of opportunties for shooting, and you have multiple oportunities to chase east or west.

What's the train speed west of Port Jervis now? Used to be 35 with frequent drops to 20-25.

According to my 1997 Conrail System TT:

Lackawaxen (MP 110.2)

Speeds from MP 107.5 to MP 107.8 = 35 MPH
"" "" MP 107.8 to MP 115.8 = 40 MPH
"" "" MP 115.8 to MP 118.0 = 25 MPH

So, through Lackawaxen, it would be 40, but slower speeds on each side of town. I'm not from the area nor familiar with the line through there, and the speeds may have changed over the last eight years. Hope it helps a little..................

I thought with the Central New York taking over the Bingo - Port Jervis stretch, they might have lowered the speed limits. Might also explain the 1802 if they have it stashed at Lackawaxen for "protect" and local purposes

Seven (7) locos and 140 cars? That is one BIG suskie train and a biggie for the Tier these days. WOW !
