Among the items recently scanned/posted online by the Canadian Pacific Historical Association is a document that may be of some interest to D&H fans - an official painting/lettering diagram for what was planned to be an order of 50 SD60M locomotives numbered 7901-7950 that would have been painted in full D&H lightning stripes.

I've read about the proposed SD60M purchase under CP. I guess that they got a better bargain with all of the used SD40-2s. I know the original SD60 demos did a stint on the B&M and D&H under Guilford. Somewhere there was a rumor about them buying some. Knowing Guilford, it seems surprising that they would buy anything which was not warn out junk. Maybe it had to do with the proposed expansion which was to have happened if NS had been able to purchase Corail.

It might be possible to replicate the lettering and stripe using available decals as well.
Athearn announced a few months ago that they will be releasing the GP60 in the D&H Lightning Stripe as apart of their "Legendary Liveries" series due next year based on (as they claim) the D&H having an interest in placing an order approximately around 1988 which would put it during the bankruptcy. Maybe the trustee was looking to perhaps lease them to get some reliable power on the roster?
