It’s northeast of Kingston and near the St Lawrence crossing at Ogdensburg.

It wasn't just a derailment, it was near enough a head-on collision between a local freight coming off of a branch or industry lead, and the container train.

Everyone: This CN wreck occurred in Prescott, Ontario - across the St. Lawrence River from Ogdensburg, NY. The pictures and wreck site are just west of the Edward Street South bridge over the CN tracks at this location: 703 Edward Street S, Prescott, ON K0E 1T0 Canada on Google Maps. It seems that this bridge was not damaged?

About one mile west is an historic CN/GT railway station occupied by the Grenville County (ON) Historical Society. 500 Railway Avenue Prescott, ON K0E 1T0 Canada on Google Maps.

This wreck disrupted VIA Montreal-Toronto corridor rail service as well - was the paralleling CP route a detour?
