Supposedly the new Home Depot distribution center being built in South Windsor (Rt 5/Ellington Rd) will have a 300ft indoor rail siding. Wonder if this will affect Bloomfield?

Sorry to bump this thread, but do you have any updates on this rail siding?

Also, does anyone know where/when the best place/time is to catch CSOR trains? Thanks for any help!

The new Home Depot warehouse/rail sidings in South Windsor are active and they are receiving product. Rail deliveries to the Bloomfield warehouse have ceased. I don't believe there is any more activity at this time on the Griffin Line which runs between Hartford and Windsor. That Home Depot warehouse was the only rail customer for the Central New England.

CSOR works Monday to Friday. No weekend work, other than a rare extra. They have different jobs that are on duty at certain times. There are road trains between New Haven - Hartford - West Springfield, and also some Hartford based locals.

There is an active CSOR Facebook group and that is the best place to get the latest information on the current operations.

Griffin line is not currently seeing freight. It has seen slow, ongoing track work heading in the direction of Hartford.

Best place to catch CSO is maybe a matter of what type of shot you like or are looking to get, or are you mainly looking to view? Think it's CSO4 that leaves Hartford for W Springfield, usually between 9-10am M-F but probably closer to 9. Following the line North out of Hartford are the Meadow Rd and E Barber St crossings. Parking close to both but you have to walk up to the crossing to really view. There's an Amtrak park and ride in Windsor Locks that's a good place to sit or it has a bus stop size platform you can wait on. CSO is usually on the return sometime around noon to 1 depending on them having to work around CSX and Amtrak. Amtrak and CT Rail has several trains, not sure if PAR still runs a train on Tu or Th.

Advising RR maintenance 5/8, 5/9 expect delays.
