Anybody know what caused the delay?
St. Louis is a crew change point for the Texas Eagle and a refueling station for the northbound. There could be many reasons for a delay.

The NEC had a trespasser strike south of Seabrook, MD early this morning around 5:15am Eastern. Unusually, even though the person died, they had the trains back running on restricted speed after 30 minutes to keep an eye out for police investigating. I usually think it'll take at least 3 hours shut down. That said, trains took upwards of a 30 minute delay until the afternoon.

Capitol Limited 29(3) is running 1h50m late due to another trespasser strike in Rockville, MD (around Twin Brook WMATA station).

Amtrak is citing 'host railroad' problems.

Not a good ride for folks on 29(22):
Lost 3 hours west of PGH account vehicle strike
Lost another 3 west of Alliance account mechanical problems.
Lost 2 more west of Sandusky account local power issues.

Currently about 9 hours late and hasn't left Toledo. Hope there was some extra food available!

SW Chief #4(3) had a bad day at Raton,1 P42 croaked and was set out,Relief power from BNSF came off a unit coal train at Trinidad(FW&D side)
had a slow go at the interchange track due to lack of use.
Relief power had to make a reverse move to Raton to couple up to the Chief.

That beats the time we were 14 hours late getting into Chicago on the Capitol. There was a tornado and flooding with downed trees and wires on the line so I was glad we got in at all.

Apparently a derailment to today's Empire Builder (operating today as #1007) shortly after departing Chicago. All I know is a Metra tweet reporting a delay on the 2:30pm Milwaukee West train (15 minutes after the Empire Builder departs) due to a derailment on "Amtrak #1007", since updated to say "near Lake Street" (which is near the north end of the terminal trackage and puts it under buildings). Amtrak is reporting a service disruption.

UPDATE: No new information about what happened but out of Glenview a little over seven hours late.

I looked, but things are getting confirmed by the press before Amtrak’s PR team got it’s pants on.
