Last Tuesday on I was taking the 12:35 out of downtown when a School group from Kenosha that was on a field trip came on. They let them use one of the closed off cars, has any come across a school field trip using Metra before? Thanks

The South Shore reserves cars for school groups ... it sounds like a good idea to keep the kids with their chaperones instead of spread throughout cars with other patrons.

An especially good idea for the other patrons

Our second grade class rode Amtrak LSL Elkhart-South Bend long ago, and they kept us in one place. There was no wandering around and it was a 30 minute ride - more time on the bus getting to/from the stations.

Back in the day, toward the end of service, there were a number of field trips on the PATrain between Pittsburgh and Versailles. I think you could have an exclusive occupancy car for something like $100.

When I was in high school taking a photography class everyone on a trip made arrangements to take Metra since school buses were always way too slow in the morning.
