Are the new deliveries with spring barriers (and those that are being retrofitted) still announcing that they are 7000 series trains?

I imagine those announcements wont go away until they're all retrofitted

What was the point of the soft shell barriers? I always thought it seemed like a major flaw.

Has anyone seen any of newly delivered cars or retrofitted cars with the new barriers?

Green line seems to have a lot of trains with the updated barriers. Not sure if they were delivered that way or retrofitted.

Honestly I disagree, I don't believe the rubber design is at all flawed and I think the decision to retrofit/redesign was a huge overreaction.

Saw car 7626 on the Silver Line.

748 cars - 7000–7747

128 for the Silver line

720 for replacement of older rolling stock.

300 1k cars
100 4k cars
192 5k cars

28 for "Growth Railcars"

Had WMATA chosen to do mid life rehabilitation of the 4 and 5k cars, "Growth Railcars" would have been 320.

Less than 100 cars to build before the order is complete since the highest numbered car will be 7747.
