Someone had asked earlier on the thread as to why #22 fairly often arrives early into STL, and departs late.
One possible reason is the addition of the seasonal cut-off coach. I don't know who handles that nowadays - it used to be mostly done by the inbound (LRK) crew, but now maybe it's the outbound. Or maybe it just depends day-to-day on which crew is better useful in terms of Hours-of-Service? Only a speculation, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Anyway, the scheduled outbound crew comes off of the previous night's 305 and essentially gets the bare minimum H.O.S. rest. Even if 305 ties up on time (that can be a big "if"), and if 22 reports on time @ STL and does no switching at all - well, without going into too much detail, the scheduled amount of preparation time before departure is still liable to be insufficient to complete all of the duties which are necessary.
There is a lot of paperwork for this route and it comes from different RR's. At least KCS is now out of the picture, if I understand right.
Still, though, used to be you could theoretically leave town (via the Highline) without UP's and get em at Lenox. Same, you could leave without IC's and eventually get em at Joliet. Not so anymore.
Let's just say that 21 used to turn for 22, and that was a more realistic schedule.

#3(11) and # 4(13) will take delays near Needles Ca tonight,a stack train at Ibis had the last set of well cars get blown over due to a monsoon related
wind event, only 1 track open(# 2 main) from West Needles to East Goffs, plenty of congestion on the Transconn from Barstow eastward, and
held trains at yards from Winslow toward Belen.

Engine problems.

More issues making mainstream press on the NEC. With all the rain that fell all this past week around Baltimore/DC, trains are getting delayed along the B&P Tunnel south of BAL. Amtrak's trying to get all the water drained out of the tunnel. MARC is estimating 10-15 minutes delay and I won't be surprised if they need to single-track at times.

# 4(26) is being held at ABQ,# 3(26) is being held at Lamy, last nights monsoon rain washed out the NMRX mainline in one of the Arroyos in the
Kewa Pueblo lands. NMRX service to Santa Fe suspended,Herzog working on repairs now.
Most likely the trains will short turn at ABQ and Lamy,Bus bridge between the 2 stations.
Lamy will be a run around move,Wye in Lamy yard is too tight to turn passenger cars.

Coast Starlight trains 11 and 14 are being held in Sacramento and Klamath Falls due to wildfires in the Redding area. Customers still on board will be returned to their origination points.

Good question...the map shows it just west of Cumberland at 5PM..so now really late if that's correct. 29(31) shows as OT from WAS so presumably not a track problem. . . . .
ADD: Arrived WAS at 9PM...7'55" late!
